How Ubisoft is entering the Blockchain Gaming Industry with the Beta Launch of Quartz
Ubisoft Quartz, which is currently in Beta, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Breakpoint is Ubisoft’s first go at NFTs which are called DIGITS.

What is Ubisoft Quartz
Ubisoft Quartz Beta is a platform for the in-game items called DIGITS. Trade, Sell, and view all kinds of in-game items that, Ubisoft says will be cosmetic only, and will be branded with a specific serial number 100% unique to that item.
Quartz will act as a marketplace for all of Ubisoft’s items. We imagine that it will house not only Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six game items, but many more Ubisoft titles to come as well.
At this point, we are excited to see a big player in the gaming industry enter into the Blockchain space.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Breakpoint
I played the original Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, and let me tell you, there is a reason this series is still alive. After all these years, the community for this game has been loyal and strong. That community will now be able to own some in-game items now thanks to Ubisoft collaborating with Tezos and creating DIGITS.
DIGITS, NFTs, and Tezos
Ubisoft and Tezos came together to produce the name given to the in-game item NFTs, and that name is DIGITS.
Ubisoft points out that the NFTs on their platform will be efficient thanks to Tezos using the Proof of Stake method of validation for their blockchain.
They explain a bit further on their website:
“Digits are the first Ubisoft NFTs, playable in a HD game and stored on the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain Tezos. Compared to the Proof-of-Work protocol used with Bitcoin, the PoS protocol offers a more advanced and environmentally sustainable alternative.”
Overall Impact
The overall impact of Ubisoft entering the Blockchain Gaming space is huge. Ubisoft is the first major gaming brand to enter into this new and emerging technology.
